Books

Before middle school, I wasn't much of an avid reader. I did read, and I liked it, but I wasn't as much of a book lover as I am now. When I was about 13, I started to read books aimed for high school students. I wasn't in over my head, I'd been previously tested to see what level I read. I read in the high school range. If it weren't for my seventh grade English teacher, I seriously wouldn't have explored books.

I suppose there's a book that started my book revolution. It's called Harley, Like a Person by Cat Beaur. I loved that book to death, I couldn't put it down. And like when you finish a really hard game after working on it so long, and you feel so good about yourself for completing it all, I didn't know what to do next. After your bouts of happiness of ending a book, the question 'so now what?' will haunt you for a while. Well, the answer is clear. You read more. You read more of the same author, you read more books of that genre.

This is a quote out of the book I'm reading now, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. Mom suggested I read this book, so I am. I absolutely love it. I honestly can't think of a book I didn't really like. I'm sure there are books out there I wouldn't like, but I have yet to find one. Conclusively, all books are good until I find a bad one.

I would talk about the book I'm writing, but I've already been shoving it down your throats for long enough.

I'll list some authors I like, though. Lauren Myracle, John Green, E. Lockhart, and Van Draanen. Definitely look these authors up. Read every word they've ever written. I'm not even kidding.

So, maybe some of you out there don't like reading. You don't like reading because it's boring, you don't like reading because they force you to in school. You don't like reading because you don't get it.

That's cool. Reading isn't for everyone. Just like sauerkraut isn't for everyone. But, don't knock it until you've tried it at least twice. Give it two measly chances. If the books they make you read in school aren't for you, then go find books that are.

Don't make excuses for why you don't do something if you've never done it. At least twice.

This is also from the book I'm reading. I just thought this was cute.

Thank you for reading all of my words. Hype, comment, follow. Spread the word.

I love you.
